My interest in photography started in high school, where I worked on both the yearbook and school newspaper. This lead to photographic studies at the junior college level in my hometown of Grand Rapids, MI. After working for a few years in an unrelated field, I returned to school, attending and graduating from Brooks Institute of Photography. This lead to work in Los Angeles, where I also started teaching part time at Art Center College of Design. Later, I accepted a staff position with Gap Inc., in their digital studios in San Francisco. I currently live in the Sandpoint, ID area, where I work for Coldwater Creek. I have been exhibiting my photography for over ten years, in both solo and group shows. My work is also in a small number of private and public collections.
I enjoy volunteering for non-profit organizations, and frequently photograph for them. This has lead to assignments in interesting places like Central America and Africa. I thoroughly enjoy all aspects of photography, whether it is using a digital capture system in the studio, or making silver gelatin prints in my darkroom. I see the "digital revolution" as a repeat of the same thing that happened to photography when the switch was made from glass negatives to acetate based film.
